Where Are We Headed?

Our current 3-Year journey with Jesus, The Great Adventure, is exactly that!  We are responding together to three separate invitations of Jesus – to walk with Him in genuine relationship.  Our goal is to go deeper with Him!

2020 – “Come and See!” – Natural devotion to Jesus

As Jesus began His earthly ministry, he issued this first invitation to those that began to follow Him.  “Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” ³⁹  “Come and see,” he said.  (John 1:38-39).  Come and see what a life with Him could be!  And we can respond to that same call today by offering ourselves to Him and responding to His affection for us through worship and prayer.

2021 – “Come and Follow!” – Powerful desire for Jesus

Jesus then taught that there was more to a life of worship than devotion – it had to develop into a deep desire for Him.  After Jesus rose from the dead, He asked Peter if his desire for Him was truly powerful: “Simon, do you love me?”  Three times He asked – the same number of times he denied Jesus!  At the end of that exchange, Jesus simply told Peter: “Follow me!” (John 21:15-22)  Our goal this year will be to allow God’s Word to penetrate us, alongside other Christians.

2022 – “Come and Die to Self” – Wholehearted dedication to Jesus

After Jesus told His disciples that He would turn Himself in to the religious leaders, Peter said, after Jesus told them he was going to turn Himself in to the religious leaders, said, “Lord, I am ready to die for you.” John 13:37 NLT.  This is always the hardest part of the Great Adventure but most worth it!  Our goal is to live out Jesus’ call, Luke 9:23-24, to take up our own crosses daily and follow Him, losing our lives for Him and thereby saving them.  This year, we will go deeper still, as we give Him priority in our lives, sharing our faith and serving one another in the community.
