About Tithing/Giving
First, everything we have is from God, and our financial life is another area where we need to put Him first (see Deut. 8:17-18). In the Old Testament, this was done with the tithe – giving 10% of one’s income to God (see Lev. 27:32; Prov. 3:9-10; Mal. 3:8-10). But, the tithe was not restated in the New Testament as a law! However, Jesus challenged His followers, to live by a higher standard in our attitudes and actions than the Old Testament Law (see Matt. 5:20). The Bible teaches giving as we prosper in order to bring glory to Him.
